Tina Fey is my favorite

Writers' Strike

I don't normally follow celebrities. However I do make a few exceptions, and one is for Tina Fey. She just seems like a generally good and intelligent person, and I respect her work.

As luck would have it I was walking around Manhattan this morning taking pictures when I stumbled upon the Writers' Guild (East) Strike picket line. I decided to check it out because it's all over the news and I support the writers side of the issue. It turns out Tina Fey and a handful of less-famous folks were picketing with the everyone else. Evidently they are normal people too.

She caught me taking her picture and sort of glared/smiled at me. It was a weird moment and I felt dirty immediately afterwards because I'm generally not one to gawk and in reality I would just like to have a ten minute conversation with her rather than creep her out taking her picture. But hey now I sound even creepier because I wrote a whole entry about someone I bumped into.

Phoenix metro is alright.

Drinkwater

I'm not really sure if Phoenix is in the dying-bird phase or the emerging-from-the-ashes phase but it's doing alright. Downtown Phoenix is probably the most boring downtown I have ever been to and my 15 dollar salad tasted like not 15 dollars worth of salad.

I spent the majority of the week in Scottsdale though. I certainly wouldn't want to live there, but for a week of travel it's nice to be around a fuck-ton of restaurants and a few stores here and there. In the summer I imagine it's not as nice.

Basically the fact that I somewhat enjoyed Scottsdale (and Phoenex a little bit) was relative to the fact that I've been in rural areas in the South lately, so it was a nice change of pace.
