I saw Kevin Spacey on CNN a few days ago for about thirty seconds before he opened his mouth and I was forced to change the channel. He was plugging his new HBO movie Recount and telling us all how Al Gore won the election. Eight years ago. You remember, when about a billion people much smarter than him and vaguely qualified to have an opinion on the matter debated the situation?
Yeah, that time.
So anyway I was flipping through the channels and saw Kevin. I quickly noticed that he wasn't trying to kill superman or fuck high school cheerleaders and deduced that it was his dumbass HBO movie. It's bad.
If you are a die-hard Al Gore supporter you'll probably like this movie. If you think what happened sucked and or was debatable eight years ago you may not really see the point to this movie. If you are an idiot you may like this movie. If you don't want to see a complicated situation presented in extreme bias you will not like this movie.
If you think Al Gore shits trees you may like this movie. If you think Al Gore is a dipshit and you no longer have any faith in the Nobel Peace Prize then you should ignore this movie.
I wish I still liked Kevin Spacey.

I think a movie like Recount could really work if done correctly. I mean the whole process that pushed Bush into office is pretty insane but none of it is truly proven (just completely overwhelming). I’m not sure how Recount handles the situation since I haven’t seen it, yet. Also, if you watch CNN on a regular basis you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t trying to shove their political opinions down your throat.

“Also, if you watch CNN on a regular basis you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t trying to shove their political opinions down your throat.”
The major difference here is that most of these people at least make a living out of Politics. And I watch them enough to know where they lean and how to adjust accordingly. When a douche comes out of left field like this I’m forced to hate him and his family.
Recount could potentially be a good movie. In fifteen years. I just think it’s an awkward time to be put out. I know a lot of bullshit happened behind the scenes but I’d like to see it from both directions. The media portrays Gore as an angel and Bush as satan and it gets old.
I am not a Bush supporter by any stretch of the imagination but he just gets instantly labeled anymore, I still think his individual actions require individual assessments.
AAANYWAY don’t see the movie it sucked.

A movie about political drama. My favorite.
I sort of cringe when I see the previews for it, especially the “Who won the election? WHO WON IT?” part for some reason.

Yeah I see where you’re coming from, I guess I just recognize that everyone has their own opinion (I’m sure he was on Larry King Live or something). I actually saw this afternnon, it just so happened to be on right after I posted my comment. I agree it wasn’t terribly great. The acting was good but the script like you said portrays the Gore team as the perfect little kids and the Bush team as the devil. Like, there is no way they have all the backroom talk available to them so what they made up for each group is a stretch. Makes for acceptable drama but not an accurate representation of what really happened.
